ACCG Lifelong Learning Academy
Core Certification
This is the foundation for your education as a commissioner. It includes 66 hours of required courses and upon completion officials achieve the status of "Certified County Commissioner” and are eligible for a $100 monthly stipend from their county. Courses that are required for core certification are County Government Finance, County Government Law, County Government 101, Economic Development, Ethics, Property Appraisal and Taxation, Public Safety and Public Health and a two-day Leadership Institute.
Specialty Certification
These in-depth courses provide a more detailed, specific level of information. Tracks are Citizen Engagement, County Operations and Management, Economic and Community Development, Intergovernmental Relations, Leadership Development, Public Safety, Quality of Life/Social Issues and Revenue and Finance. An additional 48 hours in each track is required for this certification.
Continuing Education
In order to maintain core and specialty certifications, commissioners must earn 18 hours of continuing education annually through additional education classes and attendance at ACCG conferences and meetings such as district meetings and policy committee meetings.
